The taxi looks after you.
This is your side of it.
Taxis on TaxiU carry a small safety box. It watches how the vehicle is driven — speed, harsh braking, where it stops — so the people responsible for that taxi can act on it.
You don't need it to ride. This app is what you get for being the person in the seat.
What you get
- Rate your trip. Your rating goes on the record of that exact ride, and the driver's boss sees it.
- Your rides, kept. Every trip you take is listed, so you always have the plate.
- Points. Earned for rating trips. Yours to spend in the app.
- Games and learning, free. Built to work on a cheap phone with the data off.
Free for riders. There is nothing to pay and nothing to subscribe to.
What we know about you
Short answer: almost nothing, and that is on purpose.
- The box watches the driving, not you. It reads the vehicle — not the people in it.
- Nobody is counting heads. How many passengers are aboard is never shown to the taxi's owner. That is written into the system, not left to good manners.
- It cannot see the money. Fares are cash between you and the driver. The box has no idea what was paid.
- Where the taxi went is forgotten. The detailed track is held for a few hours at most and never written to disk — restart the system and it is gone.
Why the driver is scored
Not to punish anyone. A driver with a good record can prove it — to the boss, to the association, to the insurer. That is worth something to them, and it is the reason the taxi you're in has a reason to drive well.
